Newly Promoted Controller Compiles a Profile of the Finance Department to Discover Team Strengths an

A newly promoted controller at a 4-year college conducted an off-site retreat of department members to take inventory of the team she had inherited.

ProjectLead conducted a Myers-Briggs assessment on each member of the finance team, as well as the new controller, to build a composite profile of the entire team.

ProjectLead prepared a retreat booklet consisting of each team member's Myers-Briggs assessment results, an overall profile of the team and a number of thought-provoking questions for the team to discuss as a group.

ProjectLead facilitated the off-site retreat to go over assessment results and discuss team construction, tendencies and performance goals.

RESULTS

New Insights

Once a composite profile of the team was constructed, it became very apparent that the team was comprised of solid, hard workers but had a shortage of people who would be catalysts for innovation.

Motivated Staff

With an overall assessment of the team's performance as positive, team members felt energized to take their game up another level.

Better Team Cohesion

By using the Myers-Briggs language between team members, everyone was better able to understand each other's role on the team and value their inputs and motivations.
